High Polymers:  Degree of polymerisation.  Molecular weight, Average molecular weight.  Methods of molecular weight determination:  Viscosity, Ultracentrifugal and light scattering methods.  Problems.  Stereo regular polymers, structure relation to physical properties Copolymerisation: Kinetics, Graft.  Block alternative type.  Methods of polymerisation:  Bulk, solution, suspension and emulsion polymerisation.                                                         

 

Elastomers:  Rubber tackicity Tourque Nerve.  Plasticizers vulcanisation of SBR.  Butl Neoprene and Natural rubbers, Starch and Cellulose derivatives:  Gums, Dextrin.  Regenerated cellulose. Viscose, Cuprammonium, Nitro,& Acetylation methods.  Filaments and Films.  Ethyl, methyl phthalate cellulose, applications as coatings. etc.

                                                                                                           

Oils and Fats:  Edible Oils.  Saponification, Iodine and Acid values.  Methods of determination.  Extraction of oils, Expellers.  Solvent extraction, Refining:  Hydrogenation, Kinetics Calalyst preparation manufacture of vanaspati.   Soaps and Detergents Mechanism of Cleansing action.  Preparation of soaps liquid soaps synthetic detergents.

 

Essential Oils, Pesticides Pharmaceuticals Antibiotics, Pencillin.  Streptomycene.  Tetracyclin  Chloroamplenicol  Sulphadrugs Antimalarials Quinine Priliminary idea, structure and Chemistry.  Production of pencillin.

           

Petroleum production and classification, refinery operations, pyrolysis and cracking, reforming, polymerization, alkyeation and isomerisation, petrochemicals, methoid, vinyl chloride, ethylene oxide, isopropanol, butadiene, styrene, phthalic anhydride.
