Use of engineering graphics in engineering applications. Use of instruments. BIS. Specifications for sizes of drawing sheets, lettering, lines and conventions, and dimensioning. Exercise on construction of simple geometries. (No questions in this topic)               (3 hrs.)

 

Principle of orthographic projections-Principal planes of projections. Top view, front view and side view's. Projection of points. Projection of straight lines inclined to both planes, Traces. Problem involving traces. Some practical problems. Projection of planes of simple geometrical shapes.                         (21 hrs.)

 

Projection of solids- regular prisms, cylinders, cones, pyramids, and tetrahedron. Solutions by change of Position Method and auxiliary plane Method.                                                    (18 hrs.)

 

Section of solids: Section of cubes, prisms, pyramids, cone, cylinders and spheres hollow prisms and cylinders, combination of solids. - Determination of true shape of section.(12 hrs.)

 

Development of lateral surfaces- regular and truncated prisms, cylinders, cones, pyramids. Parallel line and radial line methods. Development of transition pieces and elbows.(12 hrs.)

 

­Isometric projections - Isometric projections and isometric view - isometric scale isometric projection of regular prisms, cylinders, cones, pyramids, spheres, combination of solids and simple' machine elements.                   (12 hrs.)
