Deflection of Beams : Moment - area  method and conjugate beam method.                   06hrs  

Deflection of Beams and frames : Castiglians’s Ist theorem. Evaluation of deflection in beams, pin-jointed and stiff-jointed frames by the strain energy method. Unit load technique.     08hrs

 

Three hinged arches : Analysis of three-hinged parabolic arches for horizontal thrust, bending moment, radial shear and normal thrust.                                                                                04hrs

 

Analysis of statically indeterminate structures :

Static indeterminacy. Analysis of propped cantilevers, fixed beams, continuous beams, two hinged arches and simple frames by force methods like method of consistent deformation and strain energy method. Unit load technique and the concept of flexibility coefficients.

Analysis of indeterminate structures by stiffness methods like Slope –deflection method and Moment distribution methods.                                                                                                         14hrs
