Design Procedures

Know the general steps involved in designing a combinational logic circuit.

Be able to design combinational circuits.

Know how to implement you simplified sum-of-products designs using only NAND gates and your simplified product-of-sums designs using only NOR gates.

Simple Circuits

Be able to explain what half-adders and full-adders do (including its inputs and outputs and the relationship between them).

Be able to explain what half-subtractors and full-subtractors do (including its inputs and outputs and the relationship between them).

Know what code converters do and be able to design them.

PAL's, PLA's and PLD's and MAX+plus II

Be able to describe the structure, operation and differences among of PROM's, PAL's, PLA's and PLD's.

Be able to start MAX+plus II on the MSOE PC network.

Be able to use MAX+plus II and AHDL to implement combinational logic designs.
