Blood Gas and Acid-Base Balance Homework

PE-674, Winter '99-'00, Dr. C. S. Tritt

Due 1/11

Use my blood gas program (blood.com) or some other blood gas and acid-base balance system to reproduce the oxygen and carbon dioxide dissociation curves and the pH‑bicarbonate diagram.  Your diagrams must be quantitative and of publication quality (enough data points to produce reasonably smooth curves, computer generated and properly labeled).  Produce both the blood buffer lines and carbon dioxide isobars on the pH‑bicarbonate diagram may be challenge if you use a spreadsheet program.  You'll probably have to layout your spreadsheet as shown on the attached sample.

The programs can be downloaded from http://www.msoe.edu/~tritt/blood.html. The must be run an MS-DOS/Windows system.
